PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Located on the campus of Loyola High School in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles, Xavier Hall is a 26,188SF Type IIA assembly hall with kitchens and ancillary spaces. The primary structural frame is comprised of steel members including a steel truss roof frame. The exterior is clad in a combination of brick and precast concrete elements, with a concrete tile roof. Echoing a neo-Gothic architecture, Xavier Hall is distinguished by its arches, columns and arcades.

From the construction document phase — through to permitting — and on to construction administration, I was able to see this architectural vision come to life detail by detail, brick by brick. In my role as job captain, I assisted in the production of construction documents, helped coordinate consultants through the DD/CD/CA phases and actively reviewed and oversaw shop drawing submittals and RFI responses with respect to consultant drawings during construction administration.

The RTI permit was issued April 2019 and construction began in June 2019. Estimated completion date is September 2020.
