The first studio in the core sequence to deal with an explicit architectural program, the proposed design was for a hybrid corporate office headquarters/co-working space located in Culver City. A study of simple form and massing, the design began as an unfolding of a courtyard typology, resulting in a central open public plaza that unifies the entire scheme diagrammatically. Subterranean parking underneath the plaza allows the full-site to be landscaped, providing areas of rest and respite for workers on break, while the airy, glass canopy covering the courtyard filters daylight and creates a dynamic play of shade and shadow below.
