PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Chapman Court is an adaptive reuse project in Los Angeles with a core-shell development scheme. Originally built in the late 1920s as one example of a live/work space, the two-story + plus tower structure included eight storefronts at the street level with an accompanying residential space above. An interior courtyard at the heart of the property provides a respite from the sun and the elements while laying the groundwork for a composed garden.

The building is re-imagined as a retail + restaurant space on the street level with creative office space on the second floor loft area; the singular tower and library contained within are envisioned as a bar & restaurant on the upper deck.

Primarily responsible for managing the production of construction documents, I put together a drawing set for bidding and construction; during the construction administration phase I provided architectural sketches & RFI responses, and reviewed shop drawing submittals for consistency with the architectural design intent; coordinated with consultants and contractors to help realize the design vision.

Construction began in December 2017 and was completed in March 2020.
